READ THIS MANUAL carefully to learn how to service your John Deere PowerTech 4.5L, 6.8L Diesel Engines Component Technical Manual correctly.
This manual (CTM207) covers only mechanical fuel systems. It is one of eight volumes on 4.5 L and 6.8 L
engines. The following companion manual covers the base engine: CTM104—Base Engine
Diesel fuels specified to EN 590 or ASTM D975 are recommended. Renewable diesel fuel produced by hydrotreating animal fats and vegetable oils is basically identical to petroleum diesel fuel. Renewable diesel that meets EN 590, ASTM D975, or EN 15940 is acceptable for use at all percentage mixture levels.
This manual was planned and written for the Service Department; its place is in the shop. Use the manual whenever in doubt about correct maintenance procedures. Use it as a text book for training new Service Department personnel who are unfamiliar with John Deere Tractors.
